A Word from Pastor Zach Prosser
In 1990, Feed the Multitudes (FTM) was initiated by the pastors and congregation of Victory Fellowship. It was a difficult season for us financially, when we heard the call to reach out and help others in more difficult situations than our own. We were challenged.
Even so, the congregation donated the money, time and supplies that birthed the first FTM celebration, a totally free food festival. The event that year provided a day of fun, entertainment, food and ministry for 2,500 people at no cost to our guests.
While their physical needs are being met, we also provide ministry for their spirits, such as evangelism, prayer, healing and the love of Jesus! Over the years, FTM has become an annual tradition in the city of New Orleans. This past summer the event drew over 5,000 people and was held at our Airline Campus in Metairie.
Each year our congregation, as well as individuals, businesses and churches in the New Orleans metropolitan area, come together to provide the supplies and finances to make this event possible. Television, radio and newspaper coverage helps spread the word to invite people in the city to come. Free bus transportation from many locations throughout the city provides the means for thousands to attend.
Volunteers from various churches and organizations contribute their time to serve the poor and needy. It is the community effort that makes the Feed the Multitudes celebration a continued success!
